Cast List for 2012 FUNrai$er
A sincere "thank-you!!!" to everyone who came out to audition for our first FUNrai$er event. As always, we are incredibly impressed by the amount of talented young actors, singers, and dancers in our surrounding communities. And we are very pleased that you are interested in sharing your talents with Acting Up. Once, again -- and it is a problem we love to have -- it was very difficult to choose the limited size cast from such a large pool of talented performers. But, choose we must. If you are not on the cast list, do not be discouraged, we are always in need of assistance backstage, and we will be holding auditions for our June 2012 production Honk! shortly after our FUNrai$er.
Important Notes
- 2 Cast Lists. There are 2 casts, one for each performance date. These casts have been assembled based on actors' conflicts listed on your Audition Forms. The Production Team worked very hard to assemble 2 great casts with balanced singing and dancing abilities. Therefore, the Production Team will be accepting no requests to switch peformance weekends. Please contact ActingUp@ActingUp.com as soon as possible if your performance weekend (as noted on the cast list) will not work for you, so we can determine immediately what changes we need to make in view of your absence.
- Accept/Decline Your Role. Email ActingUp@ActingUp.com before Tuesday, December 27 as to whether or not you accept your role. Please include:
- "FUNrai$er 2011 Casting" in your email subject line
- Your name as you want it to appear in the program
- Your preferred email address to receive communications re: the production. We will be sending you a rehearsal schedule to that email address.
- Mandatory 1st Parent Meeting. Please tell your parents to review the rehearsal schedule, once you receive it, and to take not of themandatry first parent meeting listed on the rehearsal schedule.

Why a FUNrai$er?
- $$. Costs are rising. Mason schools are now charging us a theater rental of $7,000-8,000 for the week. In addition, rights and royalties have increased to over $4,000. This, added to our costs for sets, costumes, publicity, lights, mics, etc. bring our show budgets to over $20,000. We would still like to keep our ticket prices low to make our show affordable to anyone who would like to come. Therefore, we need a fundraiser.
- Fun. This will give us an opportunity to peform some great contemporary numbers, from slightly more mature-themed productions; as well as Glee versions of some pop and rock classics.
Performance Dates
March 23, 24, 30 and 31, at Lebanon Theatre Company's theater at 10 S. Mechanic St., Lebanon, OH.
General Audition Info
The following information is general information for a "typical" Acting Up audition. However, certain productions may differ in some respects from the below general information. Always look at the specific requirements for the particular produciton you are auditioning for.
Who Can Audition?
Depending upon what the production storyline calls for, we typically look to cast actors/singers/dancers ages 6-18 years old. You do not need to live in Mason, Ohio, to audition.
Check back in the coming months for audition details on our next production, Honk!
What do I Need to Bring to the Audition?
- Audition Form. A completed audition form (forms also available at auditions).
- Resume. If your previous experience doesn't fit on the audition form, please also provide a resume (click for an example resume). Do not be discouraged if you don't have that much experience. In the past, we have cast all ranges of prior experience in principal roles as well as ensemble.
- Photo. Please note, this will not be returned. Providing a photo is critical as we literally typically get well over 100 auditioners (don't let that number discourage you), and we need to easily put a name with a face. Consequently, you will be at a disadvantage if you don't provide a recent, recognizable photo. This does not need to be a fancy head shot. A school picture or digital camera shot taken and printed out merely an hour before you head out for your audition is fine.
- Monologue. A prepared monologue of 1-2 minutes long that demonstrates your acting ability/range. (Note, you will be cut off mid-monologue if you are longer than 1-2 minutes. We won't be happy and you won't be happy with this.)
- Song. Come prepared to sing 32 bars of a song. Note, due to time constraints, you will likely be cut off (politely!) before you even finish all 32 bars.
- Song Music. The song may be accompanied by pre-recorded music or may be sung accapella. If you bring pre-recorded music, please bring it on CD media. Your pre-recorded music should not contain vocals (it's very difficult to judge your voice when you are singing over someone else's, particularly a professional singer's, vocals). To keep auditions moving along, it will be very helpful if your recording started exactly where you plan to begin singing. PLEASE NOTE: we will not have an accompanist available at auditions.
What Should I Wear to Auditions?
Wear something comfortable that you can dance in.
