Thank You Auditioners!
Acting Up thanks every auditioner for their time. Over 160 of you auditioned for The Wizard of Oz.
We continue to be thrilled with the abundance of interest in young performers' community theater in Mason, OH and surrounding areas. We know from personal experience that this can be a very anxious time -- recall that all the casting directors are also actors. Thank you all for your patience as we painstakingly reviewed our thorough notes from the initial auditions.
To Ensemble or Not to Ensemble...That is the Question
Whether you are or are not on the Call Back list, the following is very important to understand: if you checked the box on your Audition Form that you would not accept an Ensemble role, then we will not consider you for an Ensemble role. If you believe you checked this box in error and/or have had a change of mind, then email us immediately with your full name and that you would also accept an Ensemble role if offered. Email us at ActingUp@ActingUp.com and use the subject header "Ensemble", by no later than 11:30pm Tuesday 6/29.
Remember, our Ensembles are an integral and critical part of our shows. They sometimes even win Orchid Awards! There will be lots of singing and dancing for Ensemble members!
Not on Call Backs List Does Not Necessarily Mean Not in Cast
It does not necessarily mean that you are not being considered for a role if your name does not appear on the list below. Please re-read that preceding sentence. At this point, the Director only needs to hear certain people read again; and the Vocal Director needs to hear certain people sing again. Please be sure to check again for the posting of the Cast List. We hope to post it no later than 8:30pm, Sunday June 4.
Call backs will be held on Tuesday June 29 6:30-9pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason OH (Note, this is not where open auditions were held). You need to arrive before 6:30pm and ready to perform; and be prepared to stay until 9pm. We may decide to allow some auditioners to leave early....this will all depend upon how the casting decisions are stacking up.
Depending upon how Tuesday goes, you may be needed Wednesday night as well, from 6:30-9:30pm.
Additionally, those who have an "*" by their name are only needed Wednesday night from 6:30-7:30pm.
Bring Something to Do & a Cell Phone.
Call backs are a tricky process. Sometimes decisions can be made very quickly as to whether a particular actor is "right" for a role and has a desired chemistry with the other actors. Sometimes this decision can be made after one or two readings, sometimes it takes several readings against several different pairings of actors. Additionally, some of you may be read for several possible roles, while some of you may be read for only one or two possible roles. We will try to move as quickly as possible through call backs. We well recognize that everyone's time is valuable.
However, there is a high likelihood you will have a lot of downtime during call backs. We can't predict this for a particular actor. So, please be sure to bring something to do to avoid potential boredom, for example: homework, a book, an iPod, a portable DVD player (with headphones), a Nintendo DS, a special gift-craft project for your supportive parents, etc. Also, if you are relying on someone to pick you up from auditions, bring a cell phone to contact them, in the event we are able to let you go early. However, you are welcome to stay and observe, if we finish with you early.
Please double check your conflicts. It is critical that you provide any conflicts immediately that you may not have already mentioned on your Audition Form, so that we can identify possible work arounds if you are right for a particular role. Not providing known conflicts now, only to bring them up later after casting is not fair to the Production team or your fellow cast members. If you need to notify the Production Team of any additional conflicts, please email us at ActingUp@ActingUp.com with the subject header "Additional Conflicts."
