Cast List Posted for Footloose the Musical

The Final Cast List is posted below, following some very important additional comments. Before you look at the cast list, please read the following comments, so you will be aware of a few important things.

A message from Acting Up...To all who auditioned:

Thank you for auditioning!  You should all be proud that you were able to stand in front of a group of strangers and perform.  It is not an easy thing to do, but you all did it.  Nearly 150of you auditioned!  We would love to cast all of you.  Unfortunately every show has a size limit, and we had to cut a lot of talented actors - about 50%.  : (

For those of you who are not on the list, keep trying!  If you love theater, don't give it up -- don't be discouraged.  Keep working and keep trying, and you will be in another show.  Plus, we could use a lot of people on different crews.  We can't have a show without a talented and dedicated crew!  It's fun, and you learn things about theater that the people on the stage might otherwise never learn.

For those in the Ensembles, please keep in mind that you will be on stage a lot.  You will all be singing, dancing and acting throughout the show. Footloose the Musical is full of several great Ensemble dance and song numbers. We're going to have a ton of fun not only performing, but rehearsing this show.  You'll have a complete blast; you'll make new friends; and you'll allow others who may be directing future shows to get to know you and see what you can do.  Whether you realize it or not, every show is an "audition" for future shows.

Finally, don't look at the cast list as an indication of your level of talent.  A lot of very talented people are getting smaller roles or ensemble roles; and, in some cases, not cast at all.  Theater is a funny world.  Unlike sports, where the best athletes make the team, casting a show isn't a straight-forward competition.  In theater, being the best actor/singer/dancer doesn't automatically mean that you get a lead role.  Casting is more about choosing the people who are "right" for a role.  It's also about choosing people who match well with the other cast members.  Successful actors treat each role, no matter how "small," as an opportunity to learn and improve their skills.

We're very excited about this cast, and can't wait to get started!

Confirm Acceptance of Your Role

Please confirm whether you accept or decline your role by e-mailing us as soon as possible at: ActingUp@ActingUp.com

Provide the following information in your e-mail:

If we do not hear from you by Wed. July 23, we will assume you have declined, and we will offer your role to someone else.

First Rehearsal & Parent Meeting

There will be a one-hour parent meeting beginning concurrently with the 2 1/2 hour first rehearsal. Here's an overview.

When: Thu. July 24, 6:30-7:30pm

Where: Mueller Funeral Home

All Cast Members & At Least One Parent are required to attend. In fact, it would be better if both parents of the actor can attend this first meeting.

Parent Meeting - Purpose.

Why attend the parent meeting, which will last a mere 1 hour?

First Rehearsal / Cast Meeting -- Purpose.

Here's a brief agenda for the first rehearsal:

What if I didn't get a part...now what?

As mentioned above, although an individual may be very talented, they may not be right for a part in a particular production. In some cases, you may have been right for a part, but scheduling conflicts were too insurmountable in view of the rehearsal schedule and/or other actors' conflicts. In the event you did not get a part, you may be interested in remaining involved with the production in any of the following areas:  Set Crew, Sound, Costumes, Advertising / Publicity, Lighting, Make-up, Set Construction, Tickets / Concessions, and/or Ushering.  If so, please contact us at: ActingUp@ActingUp.com. Please include in the subject header: "I'm interested in Cast/Crew".

In any event, if you did not get cast, please do not be discouraged. We expect to have audition information on our Spring 2009 production Annie Jr. posted this coming December/January. Please continue to check this website for updates on future productions.

(Note, the order of characters in the Cast List do not indicate the importance and/or size of a part. Rather, they are listed roughly in order of appearance in the production. All parts are vitally important to the success of the show. There are no small parts, only small actors.)

Lastly, in case you are one of the individuals who chose to go right to the cast list before reading the paragraphs preceding the cast list (and you know who you are), please go back now, and read that very important information, even if your name does not appear in the cast list.
