The Final Cast List is posted below, following some very important additional comments. Before you look at the cast list, please read the following comments, so you will be aware of a few important things.

A message from Acting Up...To all who auditioned:

Thank you for auditioning!  You should all be proud that you were able to stand in front of a group of strangers and perform.  It is not an easy thing to do, but you all did it.  Over 140 of you auditioned!  We would love to cast all of you.  Unfortunately every show has a size limit, and we had to cut a lot of talented actors - nearly 50%.  : (

For those of you who are not on the list, keep trying!  If you love theater, don't give it up -- don't be discouraged.  Keep working and keep trying, and you will be in another show.  Plus, we could use a lot of people on different crews.  We can't have a show without a talented and dedicated crew!  It's fun, and you learn things about theater that the people on the stage might otherwise never learn. If you are interested in working on the cast/crew for this production, send us a note with the subject header "Stage Ninja": ActingUp@ActingUp.com

For those in the Ensembles, you will all be singing, dancing and acting throughout the show. Disney's High School Musical is full of several great Ensemble dance and song numbers. We're going to have a ton of fun not only performing, but rehearsing this show.  You'll have a complete blast; you'll make new friends; and you'll allow others who may be directing future shows to get to know you and see what you can do.  Whether you realize it or not, every show is an "audition" for future shows.

Finally, don't look at the cast list as an indication of your level of talent.  A lot of very talented people are getting smaller roles or ensemble roles; and, in some cases, not cast at all.  Theatre is a funny world.  Unlike sports, where the best athletes make the team, casting a show isn't a straight-forward competition.  In theatre, being the best actor/singer/dancer doesn't automatically mean that you get a lead role.  Casting is more about choosing the people who are "right" for a role.  It's also about choosing people who match well with the other cast members.  Successful actors treat each role, no matter how "small," as an opportunity to learn and improve their skills.

We're very excited about this cast, and can't wait to get started!

Confirm Acceptance of Your Role

Please confirm whether you accept or decline your role by e-mailing us as soon as possible at: ActingUp@ActingUp.com

It is important that you provide the following information in your e-mail:

1st Rehearsal & 1st Parent Meeting

As you know, we are still waiting for performance dates from our theater facility. Once we have these dates we can firm up the rehearsal schedule. We apologize for this lack of information and, trust us, are just as frustrated if not more so than you. In any event below are the tentative dates for the first rehearsal and first parent meeting. We will provide more info to the cast and crew via email once we get our firm dates. Thank you for your understanding.

First Rehearsal : tentatively July 13th

Attendees: all cast members

Where: TBD

First Parent Meeting: tentatively July 20th

Attendees: at least one parent/guardian of each cast member

Where: TBD

Parent Meeting - Purpose

A Note About Scripts

Unfortunately, Disney's High School Musical is one of those productions where the copyright owner will not let us purchase scripts. We only get the right to lease them for limited period. If scripts are not returned in the condition received (e.g., all pages intact, all writing erased, etc.) we will be charged a replacement fee. As we are a non-profit all-volunteer organization, all actors receiving a script will be required to provide a $25 deposit before receiving their script. The fee will be returned if your script is returned by the due date (you will be notified of that date) and in good condition with all writings erased (be sure to only use pencil to make your blocking notes!). A check made out to Acting Up is fine -- we will not cash the check at the time you give it to us, but rather hold it until you return the script.

What if I didn't get a part...now what?

As mentioned above, although an individual may be very talented, they may not be right for a part in a particular production. In some cases, you may have been right for a part, but scheduling conflicts were too insurmountable in view of the rehearsal schedule and/or other actors' conflicts. In the event you did not get a part, you may be interested in remaining involved with the production in any of the following areas:  Set Crew, Sound, Costumes, Advertising / Publicity, Lighting, Make-up, Set Construction, Tickets / Concessions, and/or Ushering.  If so, please contact us at: ActingUp@ActingUp.com. Please include in the subject header: "Stage Ninja".

In any event, if you did not get cast, please do not be discouraged. We expect to have audition information on our Spring 2010 production, Mulan Jr., in December or January. Please continue to check this website for updates on future productions.
