Callbacks for
Disney's Camp Rock The Musical
Thank you Auditioners!
Acting Up thanks everyone who came out to audition for Disney's Camp Rock The Musical! We continue to be thrilled with the abundance of interest in young performers' community theater in Mason, OH and surrounding areas.
We know from personal experience that this can be a very anxious time – recall that all the casting directors are also actors. If you have misplaced the audition letter given to you at audition check-in, you can also read it here. Every auditioner and family should be sure to review the information on the audition letter! Also, if you have not created (or updated, if you already have an account) a Cast Management Database account at ActingUpdb.com, please do so today! All information and conflicts must be entered prior to callbacks! |
Not on Callbacks list does not necessarily mean not in Cast.
And, not all actors called back are guaranteed a role in the show.
It does not necessarily mean that you are not being considered for a role if your name does not appear on the list below. Please re-read that preceding sentence. At this point, the directors only need to hear certain people read again, and the vocal director needs to hear certain people sing again. Please be sure to check back later for the posting of the Cast List, even if you were not part of Callbacks. We intend to post the Cast List no later than 10pm, Friday, June 28.
When will Callbacks be held?
Callbacks will be held at Acting Up, 108 E. Church St., Mason (same location as auditions). Callbacks will be Thursday, June 20 from 6:30-9:00pm. Actors may be released at staggered end times.
Prior to callbacks, please be sure that all of your conflicts for the rehearsal period are entered into the Cast Management Database. If you make any edits to your conflicts list, please bring a printed copy with you to callbacks.
Sides and sheet music will be provided at Callbacks. In the meantime, be sure to re-familiarize yourself with all role descriptions, as you may be asked to read for one or more of the roles, or react to a fellow actor reading one or more of the roles.

Bring something to do and a cell phone.
Callbacks are a tricky process. Sometimes decisions can be made very quickly as to whether a particular actor is "right" for a role and has a desired chemistry with the other actors. Sometimes this decision can be made after one or two readings. Sometimes it takes several readings against several different pairings of actors. Additionally, some of you may be read for several possible roles, while some of you may be read for only one or two possible roles. We will try to move as quickly as possible through callbacks. We recognize that everyone's time is valuable. However, please be sure to bring something quiet to do to avoid potential boredom, and a cellphone, if possible, in case you are released early. Actors without a phone can use a Production Team member's phone to call a parent, if they are released early.
Double check your conflicts.
It is critical that you provide all conflicts now. If you have any conflicts not already listed on your Audition Form, please let us know now by entering the info into the Cast Management Database. Please also let us know if any of your conflicts could be eliminated if you were cast in a lead role. We will try to accommodate potential schedule conflicts if you are right for a particular role, provided such accommodation is not disruptive to the rehearsal schedule. Not providing known conflicts now, only to bring them up after casting, is not fair to the Production Team or your fellow cast members, and may result in being excused from the show.
Callback List
If you ignored or merely skimmed the above several paragraphs, be sure to go back and read it after you've viewed the callback list.
All actors should bring a water bottle to callbacks! Please be sure to read all details above! Thank you! |
General Audition Info
The below information is general information for a "typical" Acting Up audition. However, certain productions may differ in some respects from the below general information - so be sure to double check the requirements posted at the link to Sign-Up Genius associated with the audition.
Who can audition?
Depending upon what the production storyline calls for, we typically look to cast actors/singers/dancers ages 8-18 years old. You do not need to live in Mason, Ohio, to audition.
What do I need to bring to the Audition?
- Audition Form. A completed and printed audition form found on the Acting Up Cast Management System Database.
- Resume. If your previous experience doesn't fit on the audition form, please also provide a resume (click for an example resume). Do not be discouraged if you don't have that much experience. In the past, we have cast all ranges of prior experience in principal roles as well as ensemble.
What should I wear to Auditions?
Wear something comfortable that you can dance in.

Where can I get more information on Auditions?
May I audition via video?
Video auditions are not ideal, and will likely put you at a disadvantage versus auditioning in person and interacting with the other auditioners and the casting board. However, we understand that sometimes your schedule may not provide any other option. Consequently, video audition submissions may be accepted with the following pre-requisites:
- You will be out of town or have some other extenuating circumstance preventing you from attending in person for all open audition dates.
- You have obtained prior permission from the Producer and Director to audition via video.
- Your video submission must be received by noon on the last day of open auditions and include links to song, monologue, and dance videos.
- Your Audition Form with conflicts (from the database) and a headshot must also be emailed or received via USPS by the last day of open auditions.
I want to learn an accent/dialect. What's a good resource?
There are some limited resources out there...some not very good, presumably others are good. However, we are personally aware of some very good success with the materials/coaching available from the following:
Are you interested in being part of the Stage/Technical Crew?
If you are interested in being part of the Stage and/or Technical Crew, and are between the ages of 12 and 112, please e-mail us at [email protected], and use the subject header: "Stage Ninja".
