Rising Star Awards
The Association of Community Theatres of Greater Cincinnati (ACT Cincinnati) presents the Rising Star Award to recognize individuals who have exemplified a new level of exceptional dedication and commitment to their theatre or the ACT community as a whole. This could mean an individual who is in the early stages of their theater career, no matter their age, or someone who has been around a while that has demonstrated a renewed dedication to Community Theater. Over the years, the following Acting Up volunteers have received the Rising Star Award:

As a member of the Association of Community Theatres of Greater Cincinnati (ACT Cincinnati), we have the opportunity to have our shows judged by ACT Cincinnati adjudicators. Our 2006-2007 season was the first season we were eligible to be judged. Having just become members of ACT Cincinnati in January 2006, our 2005 production of The Wizard of Oz was not eligible for judging.
Additionally, each year ACT Cincinnati holds a Regional OCTAFest where local community theaters have the opportunity to present excerpts to compete to move on to nationals, or merely to showcase. In either case, OCTA (Ohio Community Theatre Association) reps judge these excerpts as well. OCTAFest culminates in a banquet where the Orchid Awards and Regional OCTAFest awards for that year are announced and presented to the member organizations. Below, you will find a listing of our Orchid Awards by season and production. |
