Auditions - CAST LIST

The Cast List is posted below, following some very important information.

Before you look at the cast list, please read the following comments, so you will be aware of a few important things.

Important Message to All Who Auditioned

Thank you for auditioning!  You should all be proud that you were able to stand in front of a group of strangers and perform. It is not an easy thing to do, but you all did it! We would love to cast all of you. Unfortunately, every show has a size limit, as does the stage.

Please be aware that only the casting team (directors, music directors, and choreographers) are involved in the casting process. If members of the board or casting team have family members auditioning, they are not allowed to weigh in on their audition or their casting in any way.

For those of you who are not on the cast list, keep trying! If you love theatre, don't give up – don't be discouraged!  If you were not cast, we hope to see you in the audience Sept. 19-21, and at auditions this winter for our next musical  (performances will be June 19-21, 2026)!

For those in the ensembles, you will be singing, dancing, and acting throughout this show! This production is full of great ensemble song and dance numbers. We're going to have a ton of fun rehearsing and performing this show! You'll have a great time, make new friends, and you'll allow others who may be directing future shows to get to know you and see what you can do. Whether you realize it or not, every show is an "audition" for future shows.

Finally, don't look at the cast list as an indication of your level of talent.  A lot of very talented actors have been cast in smaller roles or ensemble roles, and in some cases, not cast at all. Theatre is a funny world.  Unlike sports, where the best athletes make the team, casting a show isn't a straight-forward competition. In theatre, being the best actor/singer/dancer doesn't automatically mean that you get a lead role.  Casting is more about choosing the people who are "right" for a role. It's also about choosing people who "fit" well with the other actors. Sometimes it comes down to merely being "too tall" or otherwise not having the general "look" that the director envisioned for the role. Successful actors treat each role, no matter how "small," as an opportunity to learn and improve their skills.

  • Costumes.  Include (a) pant, (b) shirt, (c) dress, (d) shoe sizes (Youth or Adult), and (e) if you own character/dance shoes (girls) and in what color, or dress/dance shoes (boys) and in what color.

Contact/Family Info
If you have not done so already, please enter your family’s information into the AU Database. This will help better organize your information, and is required to add you as a cast member to our rehearsal sign-in sheets.

Conflicts

All cast members were required to report all conflicts as part of the audition process. All conflicts should already be in the AU Database, which is used to track excused absences. If you wrote your conflicts on your audition form, please be sure those conflicts are entered into the database when you accept your role. Any additional conflicts will be considered unexcused.

What If I Didn't Get a Role?

Although an individual may be very talented, they may not be right for a role in a particular production. In some cases, while you may have been right for a role, your scheduling conflicts were too insurmountable in view of the rehearsal schedule or other actors' conflicts. Remember, all cast members will have plenty of stage time, singing and dancing in this fun show!

If you did not get cast, please do not be discouraged. Please continue to check this website for updates on future productions!

Enough Already!!!

Okay, okay...here's the Cast List....

General Audition Info

The following is general information for a "typical" Acting Up audition. However, certain productions may differ in some respects from the below general information - so be sure to double check the requirements posted at the link to Sign-Up Genius associated with the audition.

Who Can Audition?

Depending upon what the production storyline calls for, we typically look to cast actors/singers/dancers ages 10-18 years old. You do not need to live in Mason, Ohio, to audition.

What Do I Need to Bring to the Audition?

  • Audition Form. A completed audition form found on the Acting Up Cast Management System Database.
  • Resume. If your previous experience doesn't fit on the audition form, please also provide a resume (click for an example resume). Do not be discouraged if you don't have that much experience. In the past, we have cast all ranges of prior experience in principal roles as well as ensemble.

What Should I Wear to Auditions?

Wear something comfortable that you can dance in.

Audition Tips

May I Audition Via Video?

Video auditions are not ideal, and will likely put you at a disadvantage versus auditioning in person and interacting with the other auditioners and the casting board. However, we understand that sometimes your schedule may not provide any other option. Consequently, video audition submissions may be accepted with the following pre-requisites:
  1. You will be out of town or have some other extenuating circumstance preventing you from attending in person for all open audition dates.
  2. You have obtained prior permission from the Producer and Director to audition via video.
  3. Your video submission must be received by noon on the last day of open auditions and include links to song, monologue, and dance videos.
  4. Your Audition Form with conflicts (from the database) and a headshot must also be emailed or received via USPS by the last day of open auditions.
If all of the above audition requirements are not fully adhered to within the required timing, your video audition will not be considered for casting.  The last day of auditions is considered to be the last day of open auditions, not callbacks.

Are you interested in being part of the Stage/Technical Crew?
